Terms of Service —
the working agreement

The terms that govern orders, commissions, workshops and use of smartpapercraft.net. Written the way we'd explain it across the bench — the legal substance is the same, minus the theatre.

Last updated: October 2026 · applies to smartpapercraft.net

Orders and quotes

Prices on this site are in Australian dollars and include GST. Stocked items are payable in full at order. Commissioned work starts with a written quote — fixed for 30 days — followed by a 50% deposit to book bench time. The balance is due before dispatch.

Written quotes are fixed for 30 days, deposits book your slot, and handmade variation is a feature — the rest is standard fair dealing.

Custom and commissioned work

Custom pieces are made to your brief. Once you approve materials and the quote, the brief is locked — changes after cutting starts are re-quoted. Because commissioned work can't be resold, deposits are non-refundable once production begins. Handmade means minor variation: grain, colour and tone differ from photos, and that's the point, not a defect.

Workshops and classes

Seats are confirmed on payment. Cancel 7+ days before a class for a full refund; inside 7 days we move you to the next date free. If we cancel a class you get a 100% refund same day. Participants must be 12 or older; class sizes are capped at 8.

Shipping and delivery

Flat $12 tracked post Australia-wide; orders over $200 ship signature-on-delivery. Stocked items leave within 48 hours, commissions on their quoted date. Transit delays are the carrier's, but we chase them on your behalf — your job is to check the parcel on arrival and report damage within 7 days (see refunds).

Acceptable use of the site

Use the site as intended: browse, read, order, write to us. Don't scrape it, don't probe it, don't pass off our content or designs as yours. Breaches get accounts and addresses blocked, and worse if it costs us money.

General

These terms are governed by Queensland law. If one clause is found unenforceable, the rest stands. Nothing here removes rights you hold under the Australian Consumer Law. Questions about an order go through contacts — questions about these terms go to smartpapercraft@gmail.com.

How we maintain this

Kept like our
other paperwork

Reviewed every January. Each document gets a read-through once a year — the date at the top is the honest last-pass date, not a launch-day leftover.
Plain English first. We write the version a customer would actually read, then check it covers what it has to. If a sentence needs a law degree, it gets rewritten.
Changes flagged up top. If something material changes, the updated-date moves and the difference is noted in the first section — never buried in clause 14(b).
Real people, real address

A small company,
not a faceless brand

Smart Paper Craft Pty Ltd is three people in Parrearra. These documents were written by us — if a clause ever seems unclear, you can literally call the person who wrote it.

If we wouldn't sign it ourselves, it doesn't go on the website. That's the whole review process.

Quick answers

Common questions

Before materials are cut — yes, usually at no cost. After production starts, changes are re-quoted and the timeline resets. We'll always tell you the cost before proceeding.

Yes before production begins, no after — the materials have already been cut for you by then. The quote states this clearly before you pay anything.

We lodge the enquiry with Australia Post and keep you updated. Delayed isn't lost — if a parcel is confirmed lost, we remake or refund in full.
