Hand-bound leather journals
that lie flat and last
Real leather covers, 160gsm fountain-pen-friendly paper, waxed linen stitching done by hand in Parrearra. Every journal is numbered, pressed and made to be written in — not displayed.
Built like a book, not a notebook
We bind the old way — folded sections sewn through the spine with Irish linen thread, not glued single sheets. That's why our journals open flat at any page and stay intact after years of daily use.
The paper is a 160gsm blend we spent two years testing: heavy enough for wet nibs and light wash, smooth enough for daily notes. Covers are kangaroo or cowhide, conditioned before cutting.
- Section-sewn binding — opens flat at page one
- 160gsm paper tested against real fountain pens
- Kangaroo or cowhide, conditioned by hand
- Numbered and signed on the back endpaper

From hide to your shelf
A journal takes about four hours of hand work plus two days in the press. Here's where the time goes.
Choose size and hide
A6, A5 or B5; kangaroo or cowhide; lined, blank or dot grid. Photos of the actual hides come first.
Paper is cut and folded
Signatures folded by hand — machine folding cracks the grain and we can hear the difference.
Sewing
Sections sewn through the spine with waxed Irish linen — the part you'll never see that matters most.
Casing in
Cover fitted, corners turned, endpapers set. This is where cheap journals fail and ours don't.
The press
48 hours under the book press. It's what makes the spine sit square for decades.
Number and ship
Serial on the back endpaper, care card inside, tracked post flat $12.
