Why hand-bound still wins
Glued bindings are fast and they fail — pages loosen, spines crack, the book becomes landfill in a year. Section sewing is slower and it simply doesn't do that. A sewn journal outlives the person who starts it.
We're also fussy about the invisible parts: endpaper adhesive that stays flexible, spine lining that allows full flat opening, and a press cycle nobody sees but everybody feels the first time they write in one.

How the bindery works
From your order to the finished serial number — a look at the bench sequence.
The order
Size, hide, ruling, embossing. We confirm the exact materials and give you a ship date.
Fold and collate
Signatures folded by hand and checked page by page — a miscut sheet never makes it to the frame.
Sew the book
The slow, honest bit. Waxed linen through every section, tensioned by feel.
Round and back
Spine shaped, lining applied, hinges cut — the engineering that lets a book open flat.
Case and press
Cover fitted and the whole book pressed for 48 hours. The press decides the final shape.
Inspect and number
Every page flipped, every corner checked, serial written on the back endpaper.
